Real smiles, real stories
Composite bonding explained
Composite bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin applied straight onto your tooth. It can repair chips, close small gaps, reshape teeth and improve symmetry. Your natural tooth is not drilled away.
It can help with
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Short, worn or uneven teeth, including after braces
- Marks or discolouration on front teeth
- Minor misalignment
Which one is right for you?
Edge bonding
Resin is added only to the edges, to lengthen short or uneven teeth or fix chips.
Full composite bonding
The whole front surface is covered, sometimes called a composite veneer, for whiter or straighter-looking teeth.

If you want whiter teeth, whiten first so the bonding can match your new shade.

Good to know
How long does bonding last?
Many years with good care and regular check-ups. Most patients need some minor touch-ups after 5 to 6 years.
Does it hurt?
No. Bonding is painless and needs no anaesthetic, because nothing is removed from your tooth.
Can I whiten my teeth after bonding?
Bonding cannot change colour once it is placed. If you want whiter teeth, whiten first with our at-home kit, then we match the bonding to your new shade.
Can bonding be reversed?
Yes. Your tooth is still intact underneath, so we can change your bonding or remove it completely.
Can bonding close gaps?
Small gaps, yes, using edge bonding. Bigger gaps may need braces instead, and your dentist will advise you.
Is bonding right for everyone?
It suits almost all adults. We do not recommend it for smokers, as smoking stains bonding quickly.
